Peak Rank:

Peak Rank is the highest Competitive Rank a VALORANT account has reached, whether or not that rank is still the player’s current rank.

It matters because peak rank records a player’s best official competitive result and is often used to summarize skill history, compare progress across episodes, or set expectations in team recruitment. In practice, a player may drop after a losing streak but still keep a higher peak rank as a record of their best achieved tier. For example, if someone once reached Ascendant and later fell back to Diamond, their peak rank is still Ascendant.
